Established in 2004 our affiliate LANXESS Elastomères is no newcomer to the world of rubber manufacture. Actually the Port Jérôme production site will celebrate it's 50th anniversary in 2012.
Built between 1960 and 1962 by tire manufacturer Firestone, the site's original purpose was to produce synthetic rubberand latex to supply the group's European factories.
Acquired by the Bayer Group in 1980, the Port Jérôme site, together with all other rubber activities of Bayer, was spun off in 2004 to join the newly created LANXESS Group.
Port Jérôme, besides five other production sites, is part of LANXESS Performance Butadiene Rubber Business Unit.
Since it's launch of production in 1962 the site has supplied millions of tons of rubber to it's customers in the tire and plastics industry. Port Jérôme is specialized in the production of high performance rubber such as Neodymium Butadien Rubber (NDBR) and solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR).
These cutting edge products are widely utilised in the manufacture of "Green Tires". Due to their low rolling resistance these tires allow much improved fuel economy. Green mobility made in Normandy!
The site today employs 220 employees and is located on the board of river Seine just 40 minutes outside of Le Havre.
